HISTORIC ICE-OUT DATES
FOR LAKE HUBERT

SPRING IS HERE!  LAKE HUBERT APRIL 14, 2004 (3 days before ice-out)

The day the ice “goes out” (disappears from the lake) is a momentous one for those who live by the lake in the winter. Ice-out signals that winter is over and spring really is coming. Ice-out day is always the day when the Loons return and the most hardy Crappie fishermen, and people who have bad cases of cabin fever, can be seen out on the water for the first time. It is a day for rejoicing.

These ice-out records have been kept by the Corchran family and their friends for many years. If you have earlier records or dates for the two missing years, please contact Chuck Corchran at  LakeHubert@aol.com.
