If so you may be able to reduce the property taxes you pay.
Wetland is a valuable asset for the environment and if you have one on your property it is worth preserving. In fact it is so valuable that the government offers a lower tax rate on the wetland portion(s) of your property so that you will be persuaded to preserve this wonderful asset.
You may already be getting a tax break due to the wetland on your property but maybe not.
Here's what you need to to to find out.
1. Get your tax parcel ID number from your Crow Wing County Tax Statement or from the Assessor's valuation notice sent to you each year.
2. Call the Crow Wing County Assessor's office at 218-824-1010
3. Tell them that you want to find out if your wetland is valued at the lower rate it should be.
If it isn't, the Assessor's office will be able to get the records changed (and your tax lowered).
That's it. No
Lawyers, no hearings, just a phone call and perhaps a visit to the county
building.
