A True Bald Eagle Story
from Lake Hubert this week.
August 15, 2009

Out son-in-law Jay, daughter Lisa and granddaughter Maggie were on our dock on the North side of Lake Hubert on August 15th and report the following:

During our visit to the lake this month (August), Lisa and I were very
lucky to see an incredible sight while sitting on the dock enjoying a
beautiful afternoon.  We looked up in the sky to see a male bald eagle
soaring right above the trees over the house.  Looking closely, we
discovered he was holding a fish he had caught in his talons.  While
we were watching him soar, we heard another bird calling and looked up
to see a female bald eagle soaring towards the male.  At this point,
the male rose up in the air and slowed, while the female approached
underneath him.  Right when she was underneath, the male released the
fish, it fell, and the female caught it out of the air.  She then
proceeded to soar back to their nest, while he resumed hunting.  An
absolutely incredible sight that I would not believe, had Lisa and I
not seen it.  Nothing like a summer at Lake Hubert.

Thanks, as always, for a great visit.

Jay
